Introduction :
Clavam 625 mg is an antibiotic which is used to fight against infections caused by bacteria. It belong to group of antibiotic called as penicillin combination. it is broad spectrum antibiotic that means it work against variety of bacteria. It is used to limit the infections like sinus infection, infection in middle, ear, throat, lungs, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, dental infection, bone and joint infections etc The active drug in clavam 625 tablet is amoxicillin 500mg with clavulanic acid 125 mg. Amoxicillin destroy the outer protein layer of bacteria ultimately killing it. some of the bacteria produce beta lactamase enzyme which act on beta lactam ring of amoxicillin and destroy it. The clavulanic acid present along with amoxicillin inhibit the enzyme beta lactamase produce by becteria and make it broad spectrum antibiotic. It is used for limiting the infections called by bacteria which are susceptible to amoxicillin.

Mode of action ?
Amoxicillin has same action has penicillin in bacteriocidal action.
During the stage of multiplication of bacteria, amoxicillin act by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis that leads to death of bacteria.

When not to use ?
If you are allergic to amoxicillin clavulanic acid.
Any history of allergic reaction to beta lactam antibiotics
Clavam 625 mg in pregnancy ? Use the tablet in pregnancy if it clearly needed.It is advised not to take this medication during pregnancy until it is prescribed by doctor. Clavam 625 mg during breastfeeding ? This drug can diffuse into breast milk and can cause side effects in baby. It is advised not to take this medication during breastfeeding.
Directions to use :
Always take the medicine in exact quantity as per doctors prescription.
Take the drug after meal to avoid stomach upset.
Take with enough water.
Do not chew, crush or split the tablet.
